yikes! Sorry to hear about the lack of help at the bakery.  I've been to the area, and loved it, but my life in in NYC, or I'd come see Jewel about work.  I'm a disillusioned pastry chef in the big city, who has returned to the corporate world for the better hours, better pay (really, how could it get worse)... but wanted to share that when I was offered my 1st job in a restaurant, the chef asked for a whole, whopping 6-week commitment.  That's the commitment level of a restaurant cook in NYC.... and it is not unexpected to just not show up for work for a day or two after a bender.  It was the hardest adjustment for me to make.

6 weeks, huh? Man, I want at least a year out my employees.....maybe I'm dreaming? The thing that gets me is that people seem eager for a job around here and say great things about themselves on their resumes, but then when it comes to actually showing up every day and doing (god forbid) work, then they just melt down. Is it the area I live in or is it the generation of people that seem to have this sense of entitlement that are everywhere?
